Good advice re: "Rate my Professor"

Here's a useful Tweet from a sociologist in Calgary.  If I were still
teaching, I'd act at once, since the "Rate my..." site prioritizes extreme
positions ("I love," "I hate") and is really useless analytically.  I doubt
that any serious decision-makers use it, but who knows?  And in general,
the web is too often used by people just lookin' for dirt...

Academic friends: did you know you can email #ratemyprofessor and ask them
to remove your profile? And they do so almost immediatly. It really feels
extremely freeing for a variety of reasons. #AcademicTwitter

I have not read the substantial number of critiques of student evaluations
that appear now to be available.  In the '90s - '00s we certainly noticed
problems with them.  Research at the time seemed to show that the "teacher
is well organized" question provdided a better measure of student learning
than other questions, but now there's more evidence of inherent gender bias
etc.  Fascinating questions though no longer part of my life!
