USA will have similar problems, no doubt.

It will be interesting to chart the economic toll for universities and
university towns (e.g. fewer students renting apartments, and the huge
spillover effect...).  If this were the only measure, Scotland could cash
in big time by becoming independent.  But as always, that's not the case.
