Not my field, but impressed by N Rosentein's review of Seth Bernard, *Building
Mid-Republican Rome*.  SB's control of the archaeological data _&_ of
economic developments - effect on farmers and labor force(s) - and growth
of elites seem to make the book worthwhile to non-specialists as well.
Odd to jump to this from a reading of Marx and  Garlan's  treatments of
Roman farmers in the *Grundrisse.*
