In ScienceDirect, I right click on the PDF and copy link to get the proxied PDF document URL. When I open the PDF it seems to create a session id in the URL line.

Hi Alex,

Just provide users with the EZprxy bookmarklet tool [ see https://guides.lib.monash.edu/access-resources/full-text-bookmarklet] to access any links in SD downloaded pdfs.

Regards,
Carmen

Hi Alex.

To my knowledge, EZproxy does not rewrite links within a PDF.

Best,

Laszlo.

Hi all,

The same is happening for us here. We can access the PDF OK, even though the proxy is dropped, but if you click on any of the links within the PDF – like the reference list – the proxy isn’t added so users aren’t authenticated if it is one of our subs.

I think a lot of people will just download the PDF as Dino says but it’d be nice to carry the ezproxy through. Has anyone tried adding pdf.sciencedirectassets.com<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/7IW-CVARmOH5jvDAUGSLMa?domain=pdf.sciencedirectassets.com> to the stanza?

Kind regards,

Alex

Hi Kira and all,

I wonder if there is a need to put this URL in the stanza? The pdf has no problem showing even though the proxy has dropped.

From this pdf page, I guess usually the user will just close the windows after downloading so it should not create any problem, IMHO.

Hi all,

Our proxy only drop off when clicking on “Download PDF” . But I have tested off campus access, I can still download the PDF.

Same as mentioned by Thomas, the PDF download via pdf.sciencedirectassets.com<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/7IW-CVARmOH5jvDAUGSLMa?domain=pdf.sciencedirectassets.com>.

Kira

For us, it looks as if the proxy is dropped when we attempt to view full text, but we're taken to the PDF anyway, not to the ScienceDirect homepage. The URL in the address bar begins with pdf.sciencedirectassets.com<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/7IW-CVARmOH5jvDAUGSLMa?domain=pdf.sciencedirectassets.com>. Does anyone know if this is the expected behavior?

Hello

I was wondering if anyone else has had the following issue.

When we try and access Science Direct articles through EZproxy the proxy is dropped and we just get sent to the Science Direct hompage.

We tried updating out stanza to the latest one on the OCLC website ( https://help.oclc.org/Library_Management/EZproxy/Database_stanzas/Elsevier_ScienceDirect_and_Scopus<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/rItiC2xMRkURojNwFXdru_?domain=help.oclc.org>)

But this has had no effect.

Has anyone else had this issue and knows a solution?

Thank you

Gregor
