Re: Google Scholar- Deceptive Site ahead

I think I have seen it on one person's workstation on campus (probably non proxied, now I come to think of it, it was a RefWorks problem). The answer was to switch to the laptop to avoid the systematic block until it disappeared after several days. I have not offered users the EZproxy SPU because of this potential problem. There was a thread back in May which identified how to resolve the RefWorks issue - probably notrelevant to your use case but trying the /ncr switch didn't help...

I was supporting a user last month who hit the same snag. She also had difficulty in using the cite feature, the export .rwf file was blocked. We used workarounds suggested on the web:

You could also try using the "no country recognition" URL but I think you will still hit the same problem: https://scholar.google.com/scholar_ncr. Try using incognito mode per the advice:

I suspect I am missing something here, the issue I have is that I don't know where the link is being accessed from. I've had a look at adding in our &inst id, but it seems to break google scholar for users using scholar.google.com, and doesn't fix the issue for users accessing us via scholar.google.co.uk.... As noted, I don't know where the users are accessing from, all I have is an alert from google that's been sent to the webteam... :(

If your Knowledge Base / OpenURL resolver is configured to invoke EZProxy on all your resources that require it, you can use University of Groningen's elegant solution: https://www.rug.nl/library/. For institutions that don't preconfigure their link resolver with their EZproxy prefix just use your inst= on your EZproxy Starting Point URL. You can obtain your inst= code following the steps at https://ericsilva.me/google/linking-your-school-library-to-google-scholar/. This fixes the query host to scholar.google.com and may avoid your red screen of danger.
