Hi Kirsten.

The URL in your image looks odd :-
https://surgeons.summon.serialsolutions.com.ezproxy.surgeons.org

It appears that your ezproxy server is :-
https://ezproxy.surgeons.org

So, the vendor URL you are trying to proxy is :-
https://surgeons.summon.serialsolutions.com

Also, a HTTPS URL, assuming you have a wildcard certificate, whould usually have hyphens like this :-
https://surgeons-summon-serialsolutions-com.ezproxy.surgeons.org

Do you have a wildcard certificate ? I believe you have and it is working with :-
https://login.ezproxy.surgeons.org

Check whether your config has any "Option NoHttpsHyphens" - you may need to put "Option HttpsHyphens" after the stanza.

Also, check the original link is where the URL is originating, to see how the vendor URL and the ezproxy URL are combined. I expect you should start with :-
http://ezproxy.surgeons.org/login?url=https://surgeons.summon.serialsolutions.com

Best,

Laszlo.

Subject: [EZPROXY-L] EZproxy cannot establish a secure connection...

Hello

I am hoping someone can shed some light on an issue we have been having for the last few months.

Many users, particularly those using Macs or MacBooks (but not iPhones) with Safari are getting the following message:

[cid:[email protected]]

It is not limited to Summon, but is occurring (at times) with every resource we have (journals, books etc.), and every publisher Ovid, Sage, Springer, Elsevier, ProQuest etc. We have never seen the error on site (not through EZproxy).

Using Chrome (or Firefox) helps many, but not all. And it sometimes occurs with pcs (any browser), not just Apple devices. And some of those using Apple devices, and Safari never see the error.

Many users have no problems at all.

This problem began when we launched a new website. Nothing significant changed, certainly none of the links, and the EZproxy server was not changed at all.

Could it be a specific browser version issue? Or a combination of browsers and devices? But it seems odd that it appears to only be affecting our users, as no one else in EZproxy-land has reported a similar issue. We have contacted OCLC, but we don’t have a solution as yet.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Does anyone have any suggestions/thoughts?

Thank you

Kirsten
