You should still be authenticated. Social Explorer is set up to drop EZproxy from the resolved url. I asked them about it once several years ago. This was their response:

Our system is designed to authenticate through ezproxy and then "get off" of ezproxy. It is not efficient to route everything through ezproxy server and of course it does not work for applications because it does URL rewriting which in my personal opinion is completely idiotic, but that is another matter altogether.
