Hi Petrina,

I'm not sure what ADFS is, however what you describe happened to UW-Madison earlier this year as I tried to adjust the stanza so that guest users could access to Ebook Central from on-campus without logging in, as per our license. The result was that when I that when I moved the seemingly old EBL and Ebrary stanzas containing our secret keys from our "must login" section of the config to the main section of the config, users were presented with the generic bookshelf. Once I put those 2 stanzas back into the must login area *before* any ProQuest stanza, users saw their own bookshelf again.

I also communicated with ProQuest (Ken Young) during all of this, and they directed me to documentation for Ebook Central on the PQ Support site that was not reflected in OCLC. There are multiple authentication options for Ebook Central (EZproxySharedSecret, Patron login, EZproxySSO, Shibboleth), so depending on your institution's method, your EZproxy stanzas may vary slightly. Your PQ rep can tell you what they have recorded for you.

Additional comments from PQ: "Please note it is essential that the EBL stanza is placed above any ExcludeIP (E) or AutoLoginIP (A) lines because for Ebook Central, both on- and off-campus users need to authenticate. If you have Include (I) lines, they should go before the EBL stanza."

Hope that helps!

Aimee

Subject: [EZPROXY-L] Individual bookshelf accounts in Ebook Central broken after move to ADFS

Hi all,
Last year I set up a group in EZproxy for Ebook Central which forces all users to login on campus, avoiding autologin. This meant that all users would access their own personalised account.
2 weeks ago we moved our authentication to ADFS, and now whether I'm on or off campus, I am logged into a generic bookshelf in Ebook Central that all users have access to. So they have lost their personalised account. So whatever the anonymous identifier was that EZproxy was sending to Ebook Central for user accounts, it is not longer sending that.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Thanks,
Petrina
