Check out the InsideOut feature <http://21cif.imsa.edu/> on the 21CIF homepage. This feature was launched in December 2005 to highlight how educators "out" there in the classroom are using the tools and resources "inside" our website to teach information fluency skills. The brief audio interviews can be played off of our website or downloaded to listen to later on an mp3 player. Have a story to tell about how you are using a tool or resource on our website? Send a note to Dan Balzer [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> to let us know what you are turning InsideOut. * * * * *A New Approach to Statewide Professional Development* *Webinar Series: Information Fluency at Your Fingertips* The 21^st Century Information Fluency is partnering with ISLMA and LearningTimes.org to offer a webinar series - ie. 1 hour seminars delivered via the Internet. The webinars are highly interactive sessions using Elluminate's virtual meeting room software. Participants will talk to colleagues from around the state using Voice-over-IP and text chat tools. Facilitators will engage participants with questions such as "What role can school libraries play in NCLB?" "What help is the Illinois Study?" "How do school libraries contribute to student achievement?" "What strategies are most effective for searching the Internet?" "How can we teach information fluency in the schools?" Teams of educators, administrators and staff from schools throughout Illinois are invited to attend this FREE webinar series. Dates: January 24, 2006 3:30-4:30 pm and February 23, 2006 3:30 -4:30 pm. For details and to register visit: http://islma.org/webinarnew.htm Questions? Email Gail Janz [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> *Emphasis on Administrators* For this Spring 06 Semester, we are shifting our advertising emphasis to Administrators. We have received many comments from Librarians, Technology Specialists and Classroom Teachers about the importance of reaching out to Administrators to explain how Digital Information Fluency relates and can help given all the demands for attention in our schools today. Via email and direct mail promotions, we will be encouraging Principals to schedule workshops in their schools and take advantage of our online resources. This campaign will provide an opportunity for our program alumni to encourage their administrators to bring these resources to their schools. *Online Courses* Based on the enrollments in recent semesters, we will be conducting the Twelve Week and Six Week Online courses when we receive enough demand to give the participants a large enough group to interact with. . If you are interested in these courses, please contact Bob Houston at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> and we will add you to the interest list. We will be offering more online webinar experiences so you can still participate in great learning experiences without having to travel. --------------030002090805070107060505 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

InsideOut – Strategies that Work
Looking for something fresh to bring into the classroom for the New Year? Check out the InsideOut feature on the 21CIF homepage. This feature was launched in December 2005 to highlight how educators “out” there in the classroom are using the tools and resources “inside” our website to teach information fluency skills. The brief audio interviews can be played off of our website or downloaded to listen to later on an mp3 player.

Have a story to tell about how you are using a tool or resource on our website? Send a note to Dan Balzer [email protected] to let us know what you are turning InsideOut.

A New Approach to Statewide Professional Development
Webinar Series: Information Fluency at Your Fingertips
The 21st Century Information Fluency is partnering with ISLMA and LearningTimes.org to offer a webinar series – ie. 1 hour seminars delivered via the Internet. The webinars are highly interactive sessions using Elluminate’s virtual meeting room software. Participants will talk to colleagues from around the state using Voice-over-IP and text chat tools. Facilitators will engage participants with questions such as “What role can school libraries play in NCLB?” “What help is the Illinois Study?” “How do school libraries contribute to student achievement?” “What strategies are most effective for searching the Internet?” “How can we teach information fluency in the schools?”

Teams of educators, administrators and staff from schools throughout Illinois are invited to attend this FREE webinar series.
Dates: <st1:date month="1" day="24" year="2006">January 24, 2006</st1:date> <st1:time hour="15" minute="30">3:30-4:30 pm</st1:time> and <st1:date month="2" day="23" year="2006">February 23, 2006</st1:date> <st1:time hour="15" minute="30">3:30</st1:time> -<st1:time hour="16" minute="30">4:30 pm</st1:time>.
For details and to register visit: http://islma.org/webinarnew.htm
Questions? Email Gail Janz [email protected]

Emphasis on Administrators
For this Spring 06 Semester, we are shifting our advertising emphasis to Administrators.

Online Courses
Based on the enrollments in recent semesters, we will be conducting the Twelve Week and Six Week Online courses when we receive enough demand to give the participants a large enough group to interact with. .
