The Women and the Law Society (WATL) is preparing its annual journal Pandora's Box. WATL was formed to address gender issues within
the law school, legal profession and the wider community, and to link law students with established networks for female legal
professionals. This focus has expanded to include a broad range of social justice issues. Pandora's Box is our most prestigious
publication. Dedicated to reflecting WATL's aims, it is retained in university libraries throughout Australia and overseas. The
journal is launched at WATL's Legal Professional Breakfast in September.

Pandora's Box is committed to opening up new directions in academic thought. In 2001, Pandora's Box examined women's issues and
social justice issues in the context of International Human Rights. In 2002, Pandora's Box will recognize their wider importance by
articulating not merely familiar international issues, but emerging global concerns. Pandora's Box 2002 aspires to examine
contemporary topics of importance to the future of humanity and the environment.

The editors are currently seeking submissions for Pandora's Box 2002. The editors are seeking articles investigating emerging norms
of human rights law including global social justice issues, and environment and development rights under the impact of
globalisation. We are also seeking submissions probing the future women and the law in the context of human reproductive technology,
biotechnology, bioethics and germ warfare. Articles expressing an understanding of cultural relativism are welcomed.

Analytical articles should possess a word count between 1000 and 4000 words. We encourage other forms of expression including
poetry, reviews, personal experiences, observations, and social comment.  Articles need not be specifically written for the journal.
If submissions have been previously published, we will seek permission from the publisher and acknowledge the source.

The journal aims to feature contributions from an expansive range of perspectives on women's relationship with the law. Contributors
need not possess formal legal training or qualifications. Past contributors include social workers, parliamentarians, students and
academics, in addition to legal professionals and members of the judiciary.

If you intend to contribute to this year's Pandora's Box, please confirm with the editors by Friday 31st of May. Manuscripts must be
received by Monday 1st of July, in hard copy and disk form. For more information, please contact us via the above addresses or visit
