American Council of Learned Societies Announces
        Fellowship and Grant Competitions for 2002-2003

 Deadline: Various

 The American Council of Learned Societies, a private
 nonprofit federation that works for "the advancement of
 humanistic studies in all fields of learning in the humani-
 ties and the social sciences," has announced guidelines
 for its 2002-2003 fellowships and grants programs.

 Applications are available for the following programs: the
 ACLS/Andrew W. Mellon Fellowships for Junior Faculty; the
 ACLS/SSRC/NEH International and Area Studies Fellowships;
 the ACLS/New York Public Library Fellowships; the Charles
 A. Ryskamp Research Fellowships; the Frederick Burkhardt
 Residential Fellowships for Recently Tenured Scholars; the
 Library of Congress Fellowships in International Studies;
 the Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Dissertation Fellowships
 in American Art; American Research in the Humanities in
 the People's Republic of China; the Chinese Fellowships
 for Scholarly Development; and Fellowships and Grants for
 East European Studies.

 lines, deadlines, and updates. The ACLS Online Fellowship
 Application process allows for the completion and submis-
 sion of application forms online. Application forms are
 also available in printable format at the ACLS site, or
 may be ordered by using the online request form or
 contacting the Council's offices.
