From: "Nov PhD Program" <[email protected]> Dear all, I am happy to let you know that the training programme for 2002-2003 of the Netherlands Research School of Women's Studies (NOV) is ready. The NOV is a succesfull training center for postgraduate students which received in 1994 the highest academic creditation as a Ph.D. degree-awarding institution from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. It provides a rigorous platform for training post-graduate students in a stimulating learning environment. The curriculum aims at offering tuition on a range of thematic and methodological issues which are central to gender research and to international scholarship on gender today. The course work of the NOV is organized around two main research lines: "Identity, Representation and Embodiment", with a clear orientation towards the humanities and cultural studies and "Policy, Politics and Organisation", which is directed towards the social sciences. To accomodate the individual needs of foreign students the following educational options are available: 1. The Intensive International Postgraduate Programme: concentrating either on 'Body Issues' or 'Gender and Social Policy'. This four-month programme, including courses and tutorials, runs yearly from February till May. The deadline for application is September 1, 2002. 2. The Full Ph.D. Programme: is a training in women's studies resulting in a doctorate degree from a Dutch university. Enrolment for this four-year program is on a year-to-year basis until degree is completed. Applications have to be sent a year before your envisaged enrolment. Deadline for starting this programme in September 2004 is March 1, 2003. 3. Individual Coaching Sessions: with a selected supervisor. No specific period or time limitations are attached to this option. In order to make the necessary arrangements you must apply at least 3 months before your visit. More information on registration and tuition fees can be found on the NOV website (www.let.uu.nl/nov) or can be requested from the International Ph.D. coordinator ([email protected]). May I ask you to please distribute this information as widely as possible around you and to invite interested students to apply? Thanking you in advance. Yours sincerely, Prof.dr.
