The Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Science and the Pushkin Commission of the Russian Academy of Science announce an International Scholarly Conference "A. S. Pushkin. Aspects of Scholarly Comments" The Conference will address the current scholarly issues emerging in the course of preparation for publication of the new academic edition of Pushkin's work. The following main subjects are suggested for conference discussions: - commentary to textual studies, correlation among final text, editing attempts and various versions; - textual history of the poet's rough notebooks; - historical and literary commentaries; - commentaries to Pushkin's artistic, critical and epistolary heritage; - clarification of biographical data of Pushkin and his circle; - clarification of the inspirational sources for Pushkin's lyrics and the prototypes for his heroes; - discussion of prototexts and intertextual connections; - elaboration of dates and historical backgrounds of Pushkin's works; - Pushkin's drawings as elements of the text, and clarification of portrait sketches attribution. The Conference will take place in St. Petersburg on June 12-16 and will continue in Moscow on June 17-19. Participants' applications are accepted until May 15 at the address: Attention: V. P. A cultural program is scheduled for the Conference participants. If required, hotel accommodations can be provided. The proceedings of the Conference will be published.
