Assistant Professor University of California JOB CODE: 506-03 Salary: $ 46,300 - $ 51,700 Location:Santa Cruz Type:Full Time - Entry The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applications for a tenure-track position in cultural anthropology at the level of assistant professor beginning July 1, 2003. We seek a newly trained scholar with expertise in the study of racial formation in diaspora, with ethnographic attention to the social arenas where inequalities are lived and produced, both within and across national borders. The successful candidate will contribute to the graduate program in Culture and Power, linking ethnographic research with innovative approaches to cultural theory and will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Anthropology or closely related field, completed by July 1, 2003. The successful candidate must present strong evidence of research activity and university teaching experience or demonstrated potential for university teaching.
