Conference on trafficking, Seattle

CONFERENCE, 'Globalization, Justice and the Trafficking of Women and
Children', University of Washington, Seattle, USA, October 25-26, 2002: The
UN estimates 4 million women, children, and men, including over 100,000 from
the FSU, are victims of international trafficking annually. Human
trafficking is a highly profitable, low-risk business generating $7 billion
on an annual basis, third only to drugs and weapons. Specialists from all
over the world to share their expertise on the field of trafficking within
Southeast Asia, South Asia, Russia, East Europe, East Asia, and Central
Asia. The conference will attempt to find means for in-depth education on
the trafficking issue, to foster interactions between activists and
academics and the exchange of ideas between NGOs from different global
regions, produce a publication to highlight the valuable work of both
