12th International Conference
4-6 October, 2002 Veszprém, Hungary

Call for participation
For the second time, IATEFL Hungary's annual conference will be hosted by
Veszprém, a historic town in Transdanubia (Western Hungary).
The venue of the 12th international conference is Vetési Albert Secondary
Grammar School, which is located 2 kms from the town centre and is equipped
with all the facilities for an international conference. There is a wide
range of accommodation either in a big student hostel, bed and breakfast
type places or small hotels.
We are looking forward to welcoming our conference-guests and presenters
from different institutions involved in English language education from both
inside and outside Hungary.
Topical focuses
The conference intends to attract participants interested and experienced in
all fields of English language education from Hungary and abroad, though
this time special emphasis will be given to
Ø supporting novice teachers in the profession;
Ø the role of teachers' periodicals and online forums in Teacher
Development;
Ø dialogue between teachers of modern languages.
We welcome talks and workshops on any of the main topics and will also set
up open discussion forums.
However, the three main focuses are not exclusive and presenters are welcome
to share their experience on any other theme or subject area. A further aim
of the conference is to bring Hungarian and international ELT and modern
language teaching professionals together and promote international
co-operation, especially in the Central European region.
Talks and workshops
Apart from the plenaries, the conference programme will consist of 45-minute
or 60-minute long talks and workshops.
In each lecturing area and classroom for workshops and talks, there will be
a board and an OHP.
We can provide presenters with audio-cassette recorders, video-cassette
recorders with TV sets or video-projecting facilities, PCs with access to
the Internet and CD-ROM facilities with video-projectors as laid out in the
speaker's proposal form.
Presenters will have been informed about the acceptance of their proposals
by 24 August, 2002.
The preliminary programme will have been sent to presenters by 31 August,
2002.
The final programme will have been publicised on the Internet
(www.iatefl-h.com) by 15 September, 2002.
