Modeling Interdisciplinary Inquiry: A Postdoctoral Program in the Humanities and Social Sciences Washington University announces the third year of an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship Program designed to encourage interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching across the humanities and social sciences. Beginning in September 2001, and lasting for five years, the Fellowship Program brings to Washington University new and recent Ph.D.s who wish to strengthen their own advanced training and to participate in the university's ongoing interdisciplinary programs and seminars. The Postdoctoral Fellows will receive two-year appointments with stipends; for the 2003-04 academic year the annual stipend will be $37,200. Fellows will outline a plan for their own continuing research in association with a senior faculty member at Washington University. Over the course of their two-year appointment, Fellows will teach three undergraduate courses in their home discipline and collaborate each spring semester in leading a seminar in the theory and methods of interdisciplinary research.
