In light of the recent events in New York City, Washington D.C, Northern Ireland, the Middle East and Afghanistan, it is even more apparent that international travel is an important and vital tool for tolerance and communication across all boundaries. We at My Travel Bug, Inc. hope you share our belief that ours is a small world and we need to respect all peoples and cultures in it. MISSION STATEMENT My Travel Bug, Inc. is a non-profit corporation that promotes the innumerable educational benefits of international travel. We believe international travel teaches tolerance, cross-cultural awareness and communication skills, wisdom which cannot be learned in a classroom. International travel is increasingly indispensable as the world's economies merge and its cultures meet. PROGRAMS www.MyTravelBug.org My Travel Bug, Inc. publishes a website of travelogues from around the world. By collecting and publishing stories, pictures and audio of people's travels as they occur, we educate and engage our readers in their quest to learn more about our planet, the cultures of its peoples and the creatures that inhabit it. Travel Bug Fellowships My Travel Bug, Inc. will be offering travel Fellowships, starting in the Spring of 2002. These Fellowships provide stipends to top quality writers for trips overseas for 1,2 or 3 months. Anyone over the age of 16, regardless of race, gender or religion, may apply for a Travel Bug Fellowship. The basic criteria are financial need, intellectual curiosity and the ability to write clearly and honestly about your travels along the way. These stories, pictures and audio will be published on our website. Depending on fundraising efforts and annual budget, we hope to offer Fellowships twice a year. (See Fellowship Application for more information.) Educational CD-ROMs In addition to the Fellowship Program, we plan to produce a multi-media CD Rom each year incorporating the best writings of the website. Depending on the yearly budget, CD's will also be distributed to public schools and libraries for educational purposes.
