Dear all In order to hold a productive session in Genoa (16-18 May), we need to start taking action now. PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY TO ENSURE YOU ARE FULLY PREPARED FOR THIS MEETING. And as usual, do not hesitate to contact Sophie if anything is unclear. We will be focusing on two main areas, as follows: 1) Completion of all deliverables and progress reports due this project year (i.e. year ending August 2004) 2) Discussion of assessment criteria (individual and group) and web reports DELIVERABLES Please find attached a list of deliverables due in the near future. You will see that the main issues are: 1) 4.1.2 Prototype of the web reports mechanism, and TMs, to include an updated spec for all the TMs, and a description of the PLONE. (London and Sweden). Draft please by 1 April. ----Jesper please write the spec of the PLONE. ----Ken/Gordon/Yishay please write a report detailing the connections with ToonTalk, also updated Number and Kinematics TM specs. ----Jakob please write an updated Ecoliteracy TM Spec. Please note that 4.1.2 should relate to the new tools in 3.2.1. 2) 3.2.1 (Sweden). Calle and Ken, please work together on a draft of this, and circulate it by 1 April. 3) 5.2.1 (Italy). Augusto and Michele, please would you furnish us with a draft by 1 April. This will need documentation etc. Please note that we need to show how the new Tangible tools (documented in Deliverable 5.1.1) have been integrated into the TM specs (Randomness & Ecoliteracy). 4) 7.2.1 (IOE). We will prepare a draft of a report on web reports so far and circulate it by 1 April. 5) 9.1.1 (Cyprus, Bulgaria, Sweden, IOE). Please work on a draft of this and circulate by 1 April. Guidance should be worksheets plus teachers' notes. We need to focus simply on the activities we will have tried by May, and not whole activity sequence. ----Cyprus to co-ordinate ----Jenny/Bulgaria/Yishay Numbers guidance ----Ylva/Sweden Ecoliteracy guidance ----Costas/Gordon Kinematics guidance 6) 1.1.1/1.1.3 (IOE). Sophie will need to gather information for the management and progress reports. She will shortly be contacting you regarding a progress report that is due at the end of February. Our intention is to come away from the Genoa meeting with all current deliverables completed, and a draft of the annual report (obviously there will be some modification of this before it is delivered at the end of August). This will mean: a) that most writing will be finished before the meeting b) that the writing will be completed in Genoa. SCHEDULE OF WORK FROM FEB TO MAY: WEB REPORTS and COLLABORATION By 1 April, please would all partners inform Sophie what group web reports with kids are scheduled and when, and which other site will be collaborated with (web reports to be translated into English before the meeting in Genoa please). In Genoa we will spend a session looking at them, and discussing and analysing them. By 1 April, please inform Sophie of any problems encountered/solutions found with regards to collaboration. We need to think about how to encourage children to comment on each others' web reports, and when they do, whether the comments are just evaluative, or involve analysis and further thought. DRAFT TIMETABLE IN GENOA Arrival Saturday, May 15. Sunday 16. Presentation and discussion of deliverables and setting up of writing groups. Monday 17. Discuss the assessment criteria we could use in the project, for individual and group learning. NOTE: please bring the following 3 things to the meeting that concern Assessment Criteria Individual learning - every partner should come to meeting with:- 1) Some description about how they have assessed individual learning for specific activities (this could be individual tests, descriptions of learning trajectories etc.). Please note that we have specified assessment tasks within the activity sequences - use these as guidelines. Group learning - every partner needs to bring:- 2) An edited video of children's group discussion and analysis of this video 3) Examples of group web reports. These 3 things will be used to brainstorm some means of analysis. We look forward to hearing from you.
