I'm cc-ing weblabs-requests to my answer to Augusto's question since I
think many of you need to understand this. Augusto asks:

On a separate topic, I'm attaching a TT file with the xml definition of
an empty text pad that when copied to the clipboard transfer only
the text pad data and not its xml definition. I've reconstructed this
definition by inspecting the xml source for DataToTabbedText.tt.
I'm unable to create such a text pad from within TT,
is there some hidden feature to be aware of?

==================

The trick is that ToonTalk has both variable width and fixed width text
pads and only the variable width ones go to the clipboard as text rather
than as XML with the text embedded inside. I just updated the on-line
documentation in response to this question. See

http://www.toontalk.com/English/text.htm#FixedAndVariableWidths

The tool I built for copying and pasting from ToonTalk to Excel only
works with variable width text pads because otherwise the XML confuses
Excel. See

http://www.weblabs.eu.com/JSPWiki/Wiki.jsp?page=DataToTabbedText

for details.
