We have had several reports of AUCTeX bombing out under Fedora Core 3. It turns out that the Emacspeak package is at fault here by bundling an utterly outdated version of regexp-opt.el. Please check your installation procedure and don't install regexp-opt.el on systems where it is already available. The particular problem with this version is that (regexp-opt nil) will bomb out. At the current point of time, we can only recommend "deinstall Emacspeak" to people experiencing problems. We might be forced to install a workaround, anyway, in order to save our reputation, but you _really_ should not install outdated and basically unmaintained old copies of packages.
