C-x C-s, but not necessary.

Of course there is.  C-c C-c RET

Not so feasible right now.

But doing C-c C-c RET all the time will offer nice defaults.  I have
to agree that this is not too obvious from the organization of the
Command menu.  Proposals how to make this more obvious would be
welcome.
