'font-lock' is the Emacs highlighting infrastructure, mostly based on regular expressions; it can use parser results as well. I'm guessing 1.8 and 1.5 are a Java language versions, but they don't match the list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_%28programming_language%29#Versions. I gather there is new Java syntax that the JDE syntax highlighting gets wrong.
