Debugging with JDEE

Hello,

I've been using JDE for editing java files off and on
for sometime, but while I love it for editing I've
always fallen back to other IDEs for debugging.  I've
finally decided to try to use JDE for debugging and
I'm a bit stuck from the get go.  I'm trying to get
the JDebug up and running but the manual mentions a
few variables - for example,
jde-bug-vm-includes-jpda-p - which I can't even find
to customize in jde ver 2.3.5.1.  Let me step back and
ask a general question.  Which facilities do you
recommend especially with respect to ease of use - jdb
or jdebug?  Thanks.
