From a newbie: Mule-UCS installation and configuration

Hi.

In my `Linux Mandrake 10.1 Community' system I recently installed Emacs CVS 21.3.50.
In order to input chinese characters with `scim' I was suggested to install
Mule-UCS.
Could you indicate where to download the package,
and how to properly install it and how to configure my Emacs version
to make it work?
If you were so kind to provide step by step indications (I'm a newbie!)
I'd be enourmously grateful.
