Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Select "Options", "Set Default Font", and then Monospace, 13, and then
press OK. The text in the window is rendered with glyphs that are
different from the ones shown in the font selection window.
In the attached screen shot I have displayed the scratch buffer as it
appears after having changed the default font to Monospace 13.
I have displayed the font select window to let you see the difference
betwee the gplyphs present in it and the ones used by emacs.

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
/usr/share/emacs/23.0.92/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
