Yes. > That's a different beast entirely :-) I knew that, sort of. What I didn't know was that the native Unicode support of GNU Emacs 21, still used Mule. In any case: on Friday, in GNU Emacs 20.7 with mule-ucs, I did `C-x RET f utf-8 RET' in a PSGML buffer, typed the letter "æ", and then `C-x C-s', and the file saved as an UTF-8 file. Do you have any idea about how to trigger this coding system automatically, based on the encoding pseudo attribute in the <?xml?> PI?
