Yes. The prolog of the master file is

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" standalone="no"?>

I've gone (in the master file) to the menu SGML -> File Options ->
Doctype and get:


sgml-doctype's value is nil


Then I've clicked on DTD -> Parse DTD. The minubuffer says

Loading "/KM/usr/ziegler/DocBook/DocBookXML4.2/docbook.cat"

the emacs parses the DocBook DTD (which takes several minutes).

After that, teh context sensitive inserting mechanism works in the
master document, but still not in chapter1.xml.
