The flip side, is that your documents get tied to a particular directory structure. This was a real problem for me, when I wished to edit the same document on Win32 and linux. I got around it by putting the DTD and style sheets on a web server, and using their URLs as system IDs, and used a CATALOG to make psgml find the DTDs. >> And on a wholly inconsequential note - why DocBk rather than >> DocBook?
