OK, got that so far.  Both the "dictum" (as default behavior) and your
caveat make sense to me.

Does X still lack fonts that badly?  How do you feel about antialiased
fonts?  Scalable fonts?  Can you use them at all?  Can you use them
comfortably?  (I want to know how your mileage varies so that XEmacs
can conform to your needs.)

Actually, I think it's worse than that; I think its brutality level
has been significantly upgraded.  :-(
