I'm certainly curious about a BeOS port but I can't be of much help. The
closest I've come to it is reading the developer docs (I love the database API
for the filesystem) but I don't have hardware that is capable of running it.

XEmacs uses C++ as a 'better C', AKA using the much stricter type rules in C++
as a way of finding obscure bugs. If you've been following the recent
discussion in -beta concerning Jerry's bignum patch you can see the value it
gives.

Since BeOS's API is C++ based, is there any reason why you don't want to
compile all of XEmacs with the C++ compiler?
