OK.  That means that XEmacs is "forgetting" that the region was
created by shifted-motion keys.  That may be a bug; I'll have to look
into it.  Anybody know offhand what GNU Emacs does (if they have the
shifted-motion feature)?

Since you use that setting, can you think of any situations where it's
*inconvenient*?  (I would predict "no", since your fingers presumably
"know" to use shifted motion.  But I've learned not to assume anything
about user preferences for behaviors I don't use myself!)
