Hi, I'm very fresh beginner with xemacs. I tried gnu too, but xemacs rules ;-). I want write my MA thesis in xemacs, and because I am doing chinese linguistics and I have to type a lot of uncommon characters. I have three problems. 1. IPA. I C-x C-m C-\ change to ipa, but when I type I get this error: (2) (font/warning) Unable to instantiate font for face underline, charset ipa I have debian/linux so I have instaled package xfonts-tipa, but the problem remained. What shall I do? When I look at ipa table in Show character table, it shows no fonts (only tildas ~) and it says: (3) (error/warning) Error in 'post-command-hook' (setting hook to nil) : (wrong-type-argument stringp nil) 2. I want to input those characters I find in Edit > Mule > Show character table > 94 character set > Pinyin-Zhuyin For me only the latin+diacritics are important. How do I input them. 3. I type in czech input. I can compose characters like n+caron. But when I want palatalized t od d (composed actually as t+caron, d+caron) it really realizes as caron, but it should be something like acute or apostrophe. I char table it shows caron above these letters. Is there any way to change it. I suppose, this not possible (at least in some easy way - ie I could do it ;-)) Thanks a lot for help, I am actually becoming addicted to xemacs, complicated , but marvelous, Thanks. Petr
