Issue 1:
Hi siece, these are autosave files.

This might well start working better once you address issue 2.

All my autosave files live in
~/.autosave
instead of cluttering each single directory I make edits in.

siece> Second, my installation of Xemacs is on a different

siece> files, Xemacs becomes annoyed because my preferences have
siece> not been stored on the same drive as my operating system.
siece> Because of this, when I first open a non-text file, Xemacs

siece> relavent directory doesn't exist, and asks if I want to
siece> create it. Saying yes again allows me to work with the
siece> file, but during the next session, Xemacs is unable to find
siece> the settings I supposedly saved, and the directory will
siece> still not exist as far as saving is concerned.

Issue 2:
Set user variable HOME, put your .emacs there, and restart XEmacs.

siece> Finally, I have set Xemacs to be my default editor for

siece> click-->frame-->view source option in my web browser.
siece> While it works, for some reason it insists on opening a new
siece> copy of Xemacs for every page I look at, rather than using
siece> the copy already running. Is there a convenient way to
siece> convince Xemacs to always use the open copy, rather than
siece> opening a new copy of Xemacs every time?

Associate these files with winclient, not xemacs.

You should at upgrade to 21.4.11 if you are not using that version yet.

It works quite well on Windows.

Please always specify the exact version of any program you seek help
on.

Current windows version could be interpreted in a number of ways,
unfortuantely.

Hope this helps,

Adrian
