Counters - upgraded (larger font).

Rules - upgraded (larger font, errata incorporated).

Gavutu-Tanambogo - upgraded (paper map, no overlays no longer needed).

Scenarios - upgraded, some formerly OOP included.

Maps upgraded (to SK style),

So IMHO there's little wrong with MMP's 'merchandising technique', even 
disregarding the argument that Chas made that it's just too difficult. 
Unless you only happen to be interested in a particular selection of the 
upgrades. There is nothing in RS that has not been released in some form.

My copy ordered this AM, even though I have CoB and GH already, as well as 
the map bundle.

Selling "scaled-down" versions of a HASL isn't likely to happen. It's too
big of a headache for the office  for too small a return to have them deal
with multiple versions. We also price and order components with a specific
number of units in mind. Mixing and matching different quantities of
components makes that impractical.
