The shorthand word "psychic" appears in Law 40B2(a)(v). But the more useful expanded description "deviate from his side's announced understandings" appears in Law 40C1. A true psyche is when "partner has no more reason than the opponents to be aware of the deviation". (Note that Law 40B2(a)(v) nevertheless renders some true psyches illegal.) But a concealed partnership understanding pseudo-psyche is created by repeated deviations, for example the oxymoron "mandatory psyche". Shenanigans occurred in the opponents' uncontested auction, resulting in a hopeless 6NT, +300 to the good guys. If Jeeves had psyched 1H, then the opponents would have been forced to revert to natural bidding, resulting in a sensible 3NT, -600 to the good guys. > > Best wishes, > > Richard Hills > > Sent from my iPad > > > On 25 Jul 2017, at 6:46 PM, Herman De Wael <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > obviously, 1 heart! > > altough I would consider passing. > > > > Richard Hills wrote: > >> Swiss Butler Pairs > >> Dlr: West > >> Vul: North-South > >> > >> The bidding has gone: Pass - (Pass) - ? > >> > >> You, East, hold: > >> > >> T96 > >> QT6 > >> T973 > >> 876 > >> > >> What call do you make? > >> > >> Best wishes, > >> > >> Richard Hills > >> > >> Sent from my iPad > >> _______________________________________________ > >> Blml mailing list > >> [email protected] > >> http://lists.rtflb.org/mailman/listinfo/blml > >> > >> --- > >> This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. > >> http://www.avg.com > > _______________________________________________ > > Blml mailing list > > [email protected] > > http://lists.rtflb.org/mailman/listinfo/blml > _______________________________________________ > Blml mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.rtflb.org/mailman/listinfo/blml > > _______________________________________________ > Blml mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.rtflb.org/mailman/listinfo/blml _______________________________________________ Blml mailing list [email protected] http://lists.rtflb.org/mailman/listinfo/blml
