As a player and as a director I don=E2=80=99t care which you use. Rather th=
an considering which is fairer I consider them to be different contests, ea=
ch having their own strategy requirement.

Unconverted Double Matchpoints (MP) In a 50 table room gives a top of 98 MP=
=2E We will probably use MP tactics to attempt to maximise the score per bo=
ard.

If we are converting to a 20VP scale, we may play a safer game to gain wins=
=2E

Regarding hand dealt unduplicated boards, I can=E2=80=99t picture any reaso=
nable contest other than win/loss.

What is described as bunny bashing is a necessity in competitive bridge, ho=
wever, it is always good if the losing pair are able to comment on the plea=
santness and courtesy of their opponents.

Cheers

This is a pet peeve of mine, particularly when hand delt hands are used. It=
's as ridiculous as pair overalls without duplication.

Even with duplicated boards, VP vs win/loss are different games. I prefer =
win/loss as a purer contest with the current opponent and brings state of t=
he match into the forefront. In mixed fields bunny bashing early is at a pr=
emium, not good for the play and is less pleasant at the table. The ACBL a=
nd perhaps the players seem to prefer VP, even with hand delt boards. Sigh=

It seems that big scores in the final round may be viewed suspiciously. Big=
scores in earlier rounds are not always noticed.

Can anyone help please with why converting matchpoints to VPs may be desira=
b.

Does it produce more deserving winners?

Is there mathematical proof of this?

Is it so bad to do what players prefer?
