Not to belabor the point -- and without having seen your game even 
once -- then I would think that the design wasn't sufficiently 
different for the reviewers to retain interest.  Take that same type 
of engine and do a radically different design, or at least one that 
makes people sit up and realize that it IS different, and you're onto 
something.
