Looking for a list about Encryption....

I have a basic question about encryption.....
   
  Please re-direct me to another list if you know of any
  encryption lists on FATCITY, or if you can answer my question,
  here goes:
   
  My question is; What do you call an encryption algorithm type/quality
  if you encrypted a 1Gig file and it gave you three 1Gig files back....
   
  Let me clarify; An encryption algorithm that gives you 512bit encryption
  really only gives you a 512bit long key that you can use to decrypt
  the encrypted file with; But, in the example above I used a 1Gig file and
  it gave me three 1Gig files back being the encrypted file ?
   
  Would that be 1Gigabits Encryption X 3 ? Or 3 Gigabits Encryption ?
   
  I just want to name my encryption algorithm, I don't know what to call it.
