This implies that C# is in any way desirable alternative of C++, which
it isn't as far as I'm concerned. In my mind, having to new everything
and having to write 'finally' just so resources wont leak is
unacceptable.

C# is just a better Java, completely in line with Paul Graham's
suggestion that "the purpose of OOP is to act as a herding mechanism
which keeps mediocre programmers in mediocre organizations from doing
too much damage. This is at the expense of slowing down productive
programmers who know how to use more powerful and more compact
techniques."
