They are of great value only because the vast majority of the oil is
needed to full the gas tanks powering internal engine. Without that, it
loses lots of its benefit.


Which is why we use poisonous internal combustion engines.  I know, I know. 
But when there were horse and waggons they made the town streets laid of 
stone, because it paid off.
