I dunno, you don't seem happy to me.  All I'm seeing from you is doom
and gloom.  Hard to be happy with that.

Mark: I enjoy my life, it is fine as far as things go. I look around me at 
people who tell us how man is doing fine, I see that he isn't.

Bill: You don't think humanity has improved?

Mark: no, I don't.    A man is doing 6 months prison for smacking his child. 
I read about school kids killing others and causing mayhem and no one can do 
anything about it.

Bill:  60 years ago we had a world war
where millions were gassed to death.

Mark:  Ye?  And so it goes on.  Millions have died to war since.

Bill~ Illiteracy was rampant,

Mark: Still is.

Bill~ and nobody
lifted a finger when another country had a natural disaster.

Mark: wow, like everyone falls over themselves to do so now?  Yes there is 
more awareness, but the voices are louder it is true.  Some things are 
better, and for myself I prefer to live now than past times.  But I think I 
am realistic about it. I don't believe 'man has come of age' for instance. 
But yes - technology has certainly made life more comfortable.
