-----Original Message----- From: [email protected] on behalf of Peter J Richardson (snip) I can just imagine the outrage if the president were to suggest that, given that many (no matter how unfairly) blame the Iraq war for the fact that more money and work were not expended on New Orleans' flood defences. Regards {eter -------------------------- Peter and All, Why would it be unfair to state the obvious? Our invasion of Iraq has been a major factor in sending the economy into the crapper, with one direct result being a reduction of transfer payments from the federal government to states and municipalities. The levees in New Orleans were a specific budget item, and their funding was cut even though it's been known for several years that they needed work. I would call that a causal link, not unfair blame. What strikes you as unfair about the obvious? regards, Clark [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------ Yahoo!
