Bill,
I'm enjoying our exchange, except for the 90% of the time that you insert personal comments, but I'll have to leave off for a bit. Before doing so, I want to address this whopper:

The war is not illegal, was never illegal, and your statement that it is
old news will not change it. Congress voted for it, the President
prosecuted it, and it's as legal as legal can be. The 1991 armistice
was broken, and we have countless UN resolutions calling for the
enforcement of that edict. Use to koolaid drinking talking points all
you want, but it's a legal war and more importantly, a JUST war to free
50 million people from despots. The mass graves of 500,000 should be
enough to convince anyone that the war is just, but apparently, the
lives of muslims just don't matter as much to some as they do others.

Congress did not declare war. Period. Cowardly and vague resolutions that abrogate Constitutional responsibility aren't good enough.
Usually the extreme right points to UN res. 1441 as casus belli, but whether you prefer that one or another, it is not up to the US to unilaterally decide that its invasion time. It requires, I believe, a vote of the Security Council, not political ambition by GW Bush, as the Downing Street memos reveal.
Freeing someone from a despot as reason-du-jour, no matter how noble a motive, is not grounds for an invasion.
Therefore, the legal requirements were not met.
Hysterical insults about Kool-Aid are irrelevant.
The religion of the civilians we bombed is also irrelevant in determining the legality of this fiasco.

You should be quite content that in the place of truth you have both major parties on your side. I'm settling for truth and no major parties on my side. The argument about legality was lost before you began. I'll get to the other stuff later unless someone beats me to it.

cheers,
Clark
