A further clarification.  I was not opposed to US involvement in the 
Balkans; I was opposed to us taking the lead when a European Union sat 
by and did nothing.  THEY should have been taking the lead, and we 
should have supported them as NATO allies.  Instead, we had to do the 
heavy lifting while the rest of NATO - as usual - sent token forces.

Europe is big enough and strong enough to take care of their own back 
yard.  They should do so and free us up to handle the rest of the world 
that Europe would just as soon ignore.
