Gentlemen,
First, let me state, for the record, that I
absolutely HATE getting involved in political
arguments with people with whom I enjoy a hobby. I'll
make this short.
Being from Michigan (originally,) I feel I have some
small right to say this: Michigan and Florida broke
the rules of the Democratic Party. That their votes
count for anything sickens me. The rules state, very
clearly, that since they held their primaries *well*
before their assigned date, their votes should not
count *at all.*
THIS is why politics is full of stupid fights and
arguments all the time - people need to learn that, if
rules are broken, consequences must be paid. This
half-a-vote system is just pandering to the hurt
feelings of a bunch of whiners. Show the country, as a
whole, what results from breaking Party rules, and
bull like this will stop occurring. Give them their
votes (or half, as in this instance,) and they will
think they can continue to break the rules and get
away with it.
That's all I have to say about this discussion. I'd
rather not delve into the
liberal-moderate-conservative spectrum argument, or
any of the others. I just think people need to learn
to follow the rules and shut their whiny traps when
they're punished for breaking them.
