I'm not all that familiar with Redscape...I remember long ago though that someone likened it to the DipKnights...in that they awarded or had a pointstructure/rank structure based on how long or how many games were played. People like rewards. I wouldn't mind playing other things in Cat23. I'm not sure how it would be done or it might be a nightmare for a GM...but it would be a helluva kick to play Supremacy again... Risk, of course, could be easy to pull off online, not everyone however, has things like Diplo to help for easy map creation and such. Hm...I'm gonna have to check this Redscape place out... No knock to you, Ray, if you are paying attention, you have put a lot of work in over the years, and it isn't like you get paid for it, but that is just the way it is. > > Second, they are a broader forum. While Diplomacy games are the significant majority of all games played there, certain other games are also played, including Advanced Civilization, Fantasy Sports, Game of Thrones and Republic of Rome. In fact, I have designed a game, Coalition (a simulation of forming a multiparty government in a parliamentary democracy), somewhat similar to Diplomacy, which will soon have its first playtest there. (In fact, there are three slots still open, if anyone is still interested. Email me for details, or check it out in Redscape.) So people who are a little tired of Dip can play those other games for a while, and are still part of the forum, and thus when they come back to Dip, I think they pretty much always continue in Redscape. When people who leave Cat23 for other games come back to Dip, I am willing to bet that a significantly larger percentage go to other forums than do Redscape returnees. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Peter J Richardson > Date: Monday, August 14, 2006 1:46 pm > Subject: Re: [CAT23-Gchat] New poll for CAT23-Gchat > To: [email protected] > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Michael Cuffaro" > > To: > > Sent: Monday, August 14, 2006 2:32 PM > > Subject: Re: [CAT23-Gchat] New poll for CAT23-Gchat > > > > > > > There should be another option in this poll: > > > > > > There are OTHER clubs outside Cat23. > > > > > > I don't think better or worse is the problem - just that there > > is more > > > competition for a limited fanbase. > > > > > > I think it is more than that.
