Actually, "Lon" by itself IS ambiguous, at least in the absence of a
surrounding game context. You can't tell from its face whether it is meant
to refer to "A Lon" or "F Lon". So I'm not sure how you can say with
certainty that "Lon" does not refer to the same unit as "A Lon" without
knowing more about the specific game situation.
But however you resolve the technical questions, the primary issue still
remains: How should the GM should treat the order? I maintain that this is
fundamentally a question of judgment for the GM, and no answer is clearly
more correct than any other (although I do have a personal preference,
naturally). This is why house rules exist.
The player in question should have read the house rules. If he didn't like
them, he should have requested a change or found another game. Failing to
do so was the first of two clear mistakes by the player.
