I think that maybe there was a wide influx of players into the internet hobby three and four years ago as a result of the internet becoming widely available, and the fact that the internet now *is* widely available that influx of people who are new to the internet finding that diplomacy can be played here is now reduced. Of the large intake of three years ago, I would suggest quite a number are like Charles, they tried it, they took on a big game load and they burned themselves out. In addition to that, as broadband becomes more popular it may be that communities like Redscape which are web rather than E-mail based become more popular.
