A quick look at the message numbers on each mailing list makes it 
obvious there's a decline from 2001 (90% decrease on GM, 69% on 
ngame, 81% on dipknights), although interestingly G-chat has held 
pretty firm at 500-600 messages a year.

I don't read that one myself, so I wouldn't know why that is.  
Perhaps it suggests that the community's still there, but the need to 
e-mail so much is less.  For myself, e-mailing a diplomacy community 
had novelty value back then, but now it's simply functional.

Has anyone noticed a reduction in take-up and replacements on their 
games?  I've run about three games a year and never noticed much 
variation.
